I need somebody with a mill in SE Essex. Please

Anybody close to me in South East Essex who has a mill and a bit of spare time I need a "Tool Post Tee Slot Plate" making for my L6.

I'm afraid my angle grinder just won't cut it accurately.

I hoping someone will take pity on me, please.

I'm this close* to having a working mill. If no one helps you within a few weeks, I might be able to. Do you have a drawing / picture of the part?

*I have made the motor bushing and the pulley is fitted on the motor right now, I just need a longer belt and a switch. So so close.

You could make that in a lathe, clamping the workpiece in the tool post, shimming to height, with a milling cutter in the chuck

theres a lot of jobs that can be milled in a lathe if u think about it buy a vertical slide and u can do a lot more

I'll agree but I don't have any milling cutters, and I don't have the time to faff around. I'm preparing my L5 for sale and need to fit another tool post to the L6 asap...

I am stuck that's why I've asked for help, I don't have the necessary cutters, or the time at the moment.

As for not being bothered you don't know my personal circumstances at the moment. so your not in a position to comment,
all I've asked for is someone to help me out and mill a Tee Plate.

I've helped members out here in the past and will do again if I can.

The thread is probably BSW, the pins locate in the 4 way tool post base, which I wish to replace.

I'll drill and tap it, I just can't produce the basic Tee Plate at the moment.

Just a thought, could you fabricate it from two plates welded together?

Likewise, ping me the dims and I will see if I have a bit of stock the right size. Should be able to knock that out on the shaper no probs.

Found a chunk of 4" x 3/4" in my Fathers old stash, given it a shotblast and going to run a cutter over it as it could be an exotic aircraft alloy for drop forging!

Certainly not on the bottom or the ends of the Tee Plate, depends on how you mounting it to machine it really, up to you...
