I hate cutting the grass!

Phah! Fec..... things, Nowt to do but have a brew....

Last week I cut most of the large bramble patch and weeds in the back garden, (worth extra brownie points from wife )

My ryobi cutter worked well, did the job, cleaned it, emptyed it, ran it to use up the carb contents as usual. once cool put it back in the shed......

Today, mixed some fresh fuel 50/1 mix put it in, pump ? ? ? WTF,

Wont draw fuel up like normal, checked all fuel lines, nothing obvious, it's only a simple 2 stroke motor, 30cc, tiny carb with fuel pump bubble built in.

Normally a few pumps gives a half full bulb and lots of bubbles, now only some noise and tiny flow, not enough to run on!

Ok so a look in the book, say's for no fuel- return to service dept???????
last time it took nearly a month to get fixed, GERRRRRRRRRR !!!

So I spose I'll have to look out the recipt again, and back to the shop!
2yr warranty so they gota do something,.....

Lots of time and hassle for a 5 min repair?

If there's a filter it could be clogged, has it been sat for a "while" with fuel in it???

Edit: Or the clog could have worked it's way trough the system and just need "blowing out the wrong way"

Have you checked the fuel cap to make sure the breather is clear.

There could be a one way valve in the fuel pipe in the tank...that might have something stuck in it, holding it open.

Yep, but they sh*t all over the place! Tried that one with sheep, but they just make a mess. I have an acre to cut every week and have tried many shortcuts ( including some rather nasty herbicides) You quite often get a small filter inside the fuel tank that can block very easilly. Might be worth having a look at www.arboristsite.com They have some pretty good forums covering equipment etc.

Trouble with goats, they eat every thing! did think of borrowing next doors, but you just can't control em. and they'll upset the bee's...so not a good idea!

Sometimes you can put a few drops of gas into the carburetor,if it will run a little, sometimes the problem will work its way through.

i had terrible fuel trouble with my husquvarna saw, turned out to be a perished fuel pipe. pipe had a split so small in it you couldnt see it but it kept drawing in air. i bought a length of fuel pipe from a local chainsaw place and it runs fine now.

Yea it will be the pipe perished or even the primer bulb. I had the same problem a few weeks ago.
And goats aren't any good they are too fussy. Not like sheep that will graze, its a myth that goats will eat everything. I have to go in the goat pen 2 or 3 times a year and cut the grass...A bit like having a dog and barking yourself!

Made a tinnie holder for my grass cutter should have made a double holder takes that long. On the starting note was it fresh fuel you used in the strimer?

Got woken up this morning by a cheery van driver at 7:35!!!!!!!
Big box with my petrol strimmer in it! Hurrah! only taken How Long!

Now I'm a bit more awake I'll get it set up and have a go, with some pump fresh fuel and see what happens......It's like a jungle out there.


Btw just so you know, tried a few times meself to fix it, gave up and sent it back 5weeks ago,.....Repair/job sheet inside says, carb fault/air leak??
unable to fix , so, FOC replacement....

means i send them a knackered one, just motor end. they send back a complete set up, so now I have a complete spare 2/head set up, new bottle of oil etc....
That's twice now they have replaced it, "2yrs Warranty" looks like next time it packs up I'll just give up and go buy a 2nd hand Sthill
