I got a Fortis vice but it's a bit different..

I got another vice today .

It's an old Fortis but it's not made of steel..

I've not seen any other images of Iron ones apart from in a catalogue dannysheff posted, so I dunno how many are out there ?

Ha ha thanks for that yep I'm rather pleased with it .

Apparently it had been in the same family for quite some time but the old chap who owned it died, so his daughter was clearing stuff out - it's now living out its retirement with me.

We know a Chap who buys vices at the Jumbles and ships them to Ireland!

On a more serious note, that vice lasted a centuary, now they make ones that use up materials and
spew out CO2 in the process and they will likely need lets say re made a good few times to
reach a centuary, instead of making it right the first time.

To be honest that's pretty much true of everything made nowadays .

We're so bothered about the environment & have to religiously wash out bottles & recycle stuff to save the planet (which might I add I have no issue with) but we rely on cheap junk. Thing is many folk want new stuff & folk generally want it cheap - the market is therefore catered to.

Oddly older tools including vices are often cheaper than the equivalent modern stuff - I know what I prefer & it's environmentally friendly .
