I need a part for my garage door but I don't know what it is called and I don't have a picture of it. Perhaps someone can help.

It it a type of spring clip made from sheet steel. It performs a function similar to a circlip in that it engages in a groove near the end of a shaft to stop things coming of the shaft. When looked at in plan it is square in appearance. There are 2 layers created by folding a strip over. The bottom layer has a U shaped slot with the open end facing away from the fold. The slot is narrower than the shaft so it engages in the groove. The top layer has a round hole of a diameter a little greater than the shaft. When the U shaped slot of the lower layer engages in the groove the hole in the upper layer springs over the end of the shaft to stop the clip falling off.

I hope that is clear.

If someone can tell me what it is called I might be able to find someone who sells them.

Try an agri spares place, they will most likely have them but you may have to buy a bag of them. One of the agri repair chaps on here might have some too, you'll just need to specify what size you need
