Im having trouble seeing what your point is? Your example, and my example are different, but you *seem* to be trying to counter my comment with yours?

I would agree in both your example, and my own - i dont see that they contradict one another!

I wasn't contradicting. Well not intentionally. You gave an example of the trailer and I gave a comparison of the vehicle.
Though tbh after reading through the comments the op mentions later that the merc owner was in the vehicle at the time of the crash and that changes my opinion somewhat. The vehicle was still in his care. He supervised the loading and was accompanying the vehicle at the time of the accident. I'll agree with the last post though. The driver should have had insurance to cover the job at hand.

In all honesty I'm slightly siding with the owner of the merc - he trusted a friend to transport it and it got smashed.

Sorry but I'm gonna have to disagree with you on that point, if you ask me to move something for you then as far as I'm concerned you trust me and my abilities. If the worst happens then you should just go "oh well these things happen" and go and have a pint together.

If you can't agree to this then you should only ever move it yourself, that way you have nobody else to blame.

If you don't trust me 100% why chance it by asking me for a favour, that becomes your fault for asking "me the twonk" to help you.

as above if you wanted the item what ever it is back at your gaff but did not want to pay to have it done/pay for a pro/contractor to deliver the fault is you own if you wanted garrenties you should pay the pro to deliver

i have done quite a few pc/laptop repairs over the years every one in the family/friends ask me to have a look i dont charge just ask for a few beers never money and that is normaly 4 or 8 cans

if the want insurance/guarantee/warrenties i say there is a pc shop in xyz they charge just to look at it £45 for the booking/looking in and the first hour of work to tell you wants wrong with it go see them

if i cant fix it(thats rare) i dont take the beer
