Hydrovane motor

I need a bit of advice regarding a Hydrovane compressor electric motor, the motor won't power up, I took a chance on buying it as non-running
hoping it was a simple fix, but now suspect the motor is toast, as I'm getting a direct short on 1 of the windings, some you win some you lose!

Any, it's still cheap enough to get a replacement motor or get it rewound it, it's 7.5kw, 132m B35 4pole motor, however it looks to me like the rotator
shaft is longer than an off the shelf replacement as it runs an intercooler off the backend.
My thoughts so far, if I bought the correct size standard motor, could I swap out the old rotator into the new or would be better off getting it rewound or possibly machining an extension
to fit a new standard motor?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

I've no idea if a new motor will fit....

but a re wind is probably cheaper than a new motor and then it's a guaranteed fit

I always replaced instead of re-winding but then had a weird motor I couldn't source so had it re-wound... ever since then I've gone with re-winds because it's so much easier knowing it's the perfect fit first time and nothing weird going on :-)

I agree it is more straight forward to rewind, but is quite expensive, I'm even tempted to have a go myself, I've watch a few goat herders
do it in their sheds, ( No not what you're thinking ) & I have the time now to have a go at these things.
I'm not in a rush & a motor might come up at the right price eventually, I wasn't even looking for a compressor
After decoding the data plate, motors are standardised, shaft diameter & frame size usually, so that's why I thought the rotator
might be inter-changeable.
