Hydraulic valve question

Just bought a new valve for the loader on the tractor, as a tea strainer would have been more use and it was too worn to re seal.

I revived the new one in the post today, but when I took the dust caps out all the ports are only partially machined out, is this the way it should be?

A lot of oil can get through a small hole very quickly.

as it's for a loader i guess it's controlling rams, i think you'll find it's soposed to be like it is, no point macheneing in to the port full bore if its not needed probaly due to te valve itself in there being quite small whitch is better for controll

It's for a loader controling rams, but its a generic valve off the shelf with the flow rate and pressure matched to the tractor.
