hydraulic cylinder locking wires

While the weathers a bit wet this weekend I thought I would have a go at repairing the leaking lift and tilt rams on the Ferguson digger. The seals are on order and have got them all apart. I noticed one of the wind in locking wires has a damage lug on the end. I have looked pretty much everywhere I can think of with no luck, yet would anyone know where one can get these hydraulic cylinder locking wires from.

Hoses look like they could do with being changed bud.

Are you talking about a retaining ring? If you're struggling take it to nearest hydraulic shop, or send a picture they will be able to sort it.

But hydraulic cylinder locking wires, is a new one on me.

If you look toward the ram end of the cylinder. There is a hole. In the hole should be a tab. Twist the nut one way or t’other slightly and pull tab. Long bit of wire will come out. Then nut will undo.

Bit of miss understanding going on here. I have the ram or cylinders off and stripped down with the old seals off, with the long locking wires out. there is a hook piece on one end of the locking wires that fits thegland that locks into the gland into the cylinder. one of the hook parts is so worn I am looking for another locking wire rather than replace the old ones..

Regarding the pipes they always look bad after a while being baked in the sun the iners are ok as they have not blown. Being the machines is not a daily workhore they will go on for years in that state, and if one should blow out tis an easy fix down the local pipe shop.

I thought you meant the tab on the outside had snapped off. Like in my pic. People put moles on them when they are stubborn and snap them

Hydraulic ram specialists or Massey Ferguson dealers should have the part. Don't try what someone I worked with did, when he hadn't the proper wire for a Lansing forklift. Just used any old wire of the same gauge, blew the end of the ram clean off when he tested it.

Morning Bob, cheers thats who I have ordered them off our local agri place is a sparex agent finger cross they me be here today worst case Monday. While the rams are off Im gona empty the hydraulic oils and renew the filter again.
