hundreds of little splashes of white paint on a dark blue car

it isn't here to take a picture but we now have a dark blue car which I thought had been run through dirty puddles but it looks like hundreds of little splashes of what might be white line paint flicked up off the front wheels all the way along the bottom half of both sides

I tried washing but that didn't help so I then tried polish. My paint restorer is getting old and is no longer a paste but that made a little bit of difference but still left quite a lot there. I will get some more paint restorer to try that

it is possible to use a fingernail to take the splashes off in little bits but that is going to take hours

Is there anything that you can suggest that has proved effective in this sort of situation?

I have seen suggestions of a "clay bar" is there a particular make that is better or one to avoid?

I got to the last line of your post, thinking clay bar, and then spotted you were already on it!

I have not had a shiny car for years, but, when I did, I found clay bars worked great. Can't remember the make, but I suspect they are all similar. Mguires maybe?

Clay bars are excellent, used it to remove lacquer overspray on my old BMW after the bumper was repaired and the bodyshop had given it back to me anyway,

The local car wash place uses tar remover that smells petrol based.

If it's white line then it's usually melted plastic rather than paint. Hard to remove usually.

I was under the impression white line paint stabilises seconds after it hits the road surface and is ulikely to spot. More likely to string.

Have a word with minor paint and dent repairer. A friend of mine collected a new car in the wet from miles from home and the next day we noticed what appeared to be a blob of blue paint on the bonnet. I disuaded him from attacking it and suggested that he took it to his local man where his wife is a regular customer for alloy wheel " descuffing"!
The man produced a soft cloth and a can of " jollop". Blue paint gone and not a mark to be seen - on the house!

My dad's motorbike got covered in tiny white specks - the neighbour had her house painted and the wind carried the paint over the fence. It was the devil to get off.

thinners might take it off depending on what it is
