HSS stopped exchanging?

Just rang (all of) my local HSS centres to get my size W bottle of Argoshield swapped over and turns out they've cracked down on out of hire bottles of gas, has anyone else noticed this?

I've been swapping this bottle once every 6 months with them without a shred of paperwork with them for the last 2 years, but now it seems they've put a stop to it?

don't want this to turn into a discussion about the validity of acquired BOC bottles please

Boc now read the barcodes on returned bottles and bottles going out.
I expect HSS were getting bottles back that hadn't been in the system for years so decided to call it a day.

i figured as much

although, what's to stop someone renting out a bottle for a week and returning a different one?

the bottle in my possession currently will be one that was from HSS 6 months ago

I have always got mine from HSS without an account but they have stopped doing it, they were stopped by BOC my man told me

Sadly all the cheap sources of gas are drying up, the fire extinguisher company's won't recharge my cylinders any more.

if you had seen the amount of oxy acet bottles that have been lifted of sites during the years it would amount to a fair few thousand .most are on farms and in peoples garages stood there for years idle. isnt there any wonder why they have cracked down on it

^that and they fall off your account, which wasn't a problem when you could swap them. But now if you don't have that size bottle on rent then they will not exchange.

Going to get on the VZi deal now then it seems. least i don't have to haul that size W around with me any more
