Hi everyone,
been browsing through the site for a few days now and decided it was time to sign up proper. must say im well impressed with the info and general light hearted attitude on here, lots o forums can start takin it all a bit too seriously.
been toying with the idea of learning to weld for a while now but what really pushed me to get my finger out and do something about it was the back arches on my car, its an 89 mk3 supra turbo which are pretty well known for naughty back ends and upon closer inspection mine has fallen victim to the dreaded tin worm in all the usual places for this type of car.
so full of beans i headed off an picked up my very own mig welder (try to keep the laughing down)............a Sip migmate 105 turbo......and yes its broken
now before you shout doh in a homer simpson style i should point out in my defence that i got the welder for nothing, gratis, not a single penny of my money was involved in aquiring it.
the plastic spindle that carries the idler wheel on the tensioner has snapped off completely but otherwise its in pretty good condition, so first job is to get that replaced, then modded as per the post on the site to stop it happening again. then its practise practise all the way till i feel up to tackling the job.
sorry for the long winded post
and a big hello to all
cheers,
Stephen
