How would you repair this?

My overdrive has a speed sensor so it can’t be engaged below 30mph. The base of it is falling apart but the sensor still works.

This is what a good one looks like.

The bit of black disc remaining seems fairly well stuck. If I carefully fill the rest of the gap with silcoset 152 would that work? I guess I leave the end of the sensor (pretty sure it’s a magnet) clear/poking through?

Got any Araldite handy? Wrap some tape round the end to make a dam and stand it on end to set.

The above suggestions are probably the right ones but I was watching something yesterday involving superglue and baking soda.

Drop of superglue, sprinkle baking soda onto it and it sets rock hard within seconds, brush it clean and repeat to build depth if required.

Apparently it is part of the tool kit on the space station.

Any preferences on these? I dont need it to set hugely quickly (can shape it easier if it is slower)

Would you remove the remaining material from it first or leave that be if it is firm as it currently appears?

Leave it if secure. Key the edge if possible to let the epoxy bind well to it. Fill the gap with epoxy, and let it level itself. I prefer the separate tubes, as you can alter the ratio slightly to give yourself a slightly longer time to faff before it becomes unworkable.

The araldite pack says it will tolerate up the 80C. This overdrive will be on that kind of limit. How much tolerance do you think there will be?

No idea. It can't fare any worse than the current capping has, so nowt lost either way.

80 degrees could be a problem. Those overdrive units run hot.

JB weld do a high heat version, it's on Amazon. 204 degrees centigrade.
