how to restore an old welder?dan mig

ok so i recently bought a really old dan mig welder
i am trying to get a job welding and havent touched a welder in about a year so i bought this for 100 bucks
it doesn't lay a bead though....it still makes sparks but the matal it lays looks is stringy...basically the wire sticks but doesn't melt much


the wheels that push the wire are rusty so i am going to hit those up with some steel wool.
other than that i dont know anythin about welders except how to use them

so i am looking for advice on how to restore an old welder

and remember i dont know nothin about these so remember to tell me all the stupid/easy/obvious stuff

Check for bad connections. Probably has corroded connections.

Other than that, it may be a bad rectifier. You will need to check them with a meter.
