Hi
Bought a cheap run about fiesta and amongst some other rust in a few places it has some on the A-pillar in the door shut (I.E with the doot closed you can't see it, it is on the inner part where a bit of rubber trim attached near the door seals, around the centre of the side of the windscreen)
Think it needs a piece around 3 inches by 2 (with bends in it) butt welded in, however I was wondering
1. If this is acceptable as i am conscious that this is a part that is structural.
2. Would doing so introduce a stress point that could seriously affect the integrity of the cabin in an accident?
3. If the above 2 points are OK, any tips on how to avoid damaging the windscreen during the weld? Didn't want the heat to crack it
Any advice would be greatly appreciated (bar scrap it!)
Cheers
