How to remove stain from worktop

Any ideas how to get rid of the stain.

I'm not 100% if the worktop is granite or quartz, or something similar

I've tried bleach, won't shift it.

Any clues as to what may have caused the stain?

Is there a chipboard core to the worktop, and is the surface just a veneer, or is it solid all the way through?

Bleach would take time to show any improvement, if the staining substance has diffused into the material, assuming the stain responds to bleach in the first place.

could possably be a heat mark only reason i say this there a very stright edge one side ?

There are folk around that specialise in fixing marked hard surfaces, we had a guy stay here who spends half his life fixing marked surfaces on cruise ship bathrooms.
Snag doctor and magicman are two franchises, but there will be locals too.

It's solid all the way through. I don't think it is a heat mark, some sort of substance which has lingered.

I have read Milton Sterilising Fluid can remove stubborn stains off material and other surfaces.

Powder bar keepers friend has sorted similar on quartz worktops for me. Add powder, moisten to paste, leave moist for an hour or two then wipe off.

I use beer line cleaner on my corian worktop to get rid of curry stains. The other way was bleach and fine wet and dry paper like you were colour sanding a car.

Have you tried baby wipes? We had a guy come to remove stains on our furniture and flooring. Wife had tried all the fancy cleaning products never touched it, came off with baby wipes

Any kitchen cleaner spray it on and leave for 10 mins. Use one of those green scouring pads to take it off. We have a similar one and tea bags and red wine are a bugger for leaving stains but that method works.

Cork does this to my quartz counter top. I left a big coaster with a cork base and it left a large baige stain.
I've use glass cleaner, granite cleaner and soap, doesn't touch it much. I've had better results using white vinigar and leaving it to soak for a good while.
There's a few marks on mine now and I'm tempted to use a D A polisher and some polish compound.

Lay a large towel over the worktop and soak in strong coffee. Wait 24 hours. It will all be the same colour of beige brown

4 chemicals I have here are what I'd test first.
Bicarb of soda in a wet paste
Citric acid
Sodium metabisulphate
Oxy clothes stain remover

If you try them, test it underneath or where it wont show first.

Cork, being from Quercus suber, will contain tannins so I imagine that is what causes the stains if it gets in any way damp.

The oxalic acid in bar keepers friend is great for tannin stains from cork, oak, tea etc. I’ve used it to remove stains from woodwork too.
Worth leaving all these things on the stain for a while to allow them to act - stains don’t wipe off like they do in the ads.

The surface is obviously porous, not so sure tipping anything onto a stain like that will remove it. May be worth trying something like a carpet wet vac that will fire detergent into it and suck it out. Once sorted it will need sealing to avoid the same problem re occurring.

Friend of mine in Thailand had a granite (or maybe marble) kitchen top installed in the kitchen. It looked great, but after a few weeks he could see swirly patterns very faintly in the surface. Turned out to be the glue used to hold it down. It wasn’t terrible, but he saw it every time he walked into the kitchen.

Generally you dont want to be mixing anything with bleach as it can release large amounts of chlorine gas if you get it wrong.
