Thanks for all the suggestions. I have been waiting for the loctite 7200 to arrive which it did on saturday, unfortunately it didn't work and neither did the brake cleaner

Alcohol was no use either as this was anaerobic sealant not silicone/rtv

Matt's suggestion worked perfectly with a two pence piece held almost flat and just using the raised edge lightly the sealant came off without any scratching, thank you!

Just keep an eye out for a small ginger Yorkshireman hovering under your workbench collecting the copper shavings.

Most 2 pence pieces aren't copper - use a magnet to check.

I can supply genuine copper 2p pieces for 5p + postage

Youngest lad was giving me some right looks the other week when we were at Scarborough, 'cos I kept sifting through his 2p's from the machines for the pre '94 ones.

Forgot to take them out of my back pocket before I went on a ride with him too. Ended up clutching my **** pocket for the duration of the ride so as to not run the risk of flying, high velocity 2p coins. That would've made one hell of a story.

think you might need to go a bit earlier, the one I used was 1992 and it was magnetic! fortunately I didn't wear through the copper coating

I do have a few old style pennies though so I may be tempted to use them in future
