hi ive just purchased a newarc rm420 im running coogar 5 and 1mm wire im just struggling with spatter at the moment and i know someone on here will have the answer.
im welding new 3mm angle and box (making a trailer)
First thing you need to check, is your torch angle.
It needs to point forwards slightly, but only by about 15-20 degrees from the right angle.
If you are using a much shallower angle you will have spatter problems.
Next check wire speed, try lowering it slightly, but remeber if it sounds right, it is probably right.
The 1mm wire isnt quite ideal, 0.8 would be better for 3mm running coogar 5 imho.
Have you tried using a bit of antispatter spray? It wont stop spatter, but it helps it not to stick as badly.
