how to keep welding lenses clean????

i have a problem. im going through about 3 black, shade 12 welding lenses a day i dont mind as they are cheap but its a pain in the arse. i tried using the clear glass lenses in front of it but i find it harder to see out of. i was thing of trying antispatter any suggestions? i use a normal fitters welding shield with the flip up front for grinding ( dead handy ) its the small size lense also.

use the clear plastic ones there better than the glass ones as the sparks tend to burn on to the glass and
less on the plastic ones

Your lens is probably too Dark, i use a ten for all welding up too about 200 amps. Have a clear for grinding and a clear each side of the black one.

Use the clear glass (it's there to protect the black filter glass!!) but get some better lighting on the work area.

Not a hope i could weld with shade 12, that's for massive amps. I always used ten, that's just me, won't hurt too try it, once you adjust you won't go back.

if you weld alot dont switch to a ten just yet.if you settings are gd you should not have so mutch spatter, and you should be able to keep your mask not so close to the welding...look in to spray transfer welding with different gas and some tweekin of settings the weld will spray on nice with no spatter.spay welding is the way to go.mig is short circuit because it pops on and off hard to explain but check it out im sure some one has it on utube.make your mig spray weld...

^ Not sure how you can advise the OP on putting his machine into spray transfer when a) you don't know what machine he's using and b) you don't know what he's welding?
He could be using a 90 amp welder to weld car bodywork so a) it wouldn't even go into spray and b) he wouldn't want to be in spray if it would.

if he has a 110 volt set up i would still say run the gold gas to acheive the same heat with less amps/90 argon 10 co2.. (just tryin to get him to realize some ways to get it to run smoother.yaaa nooo

some one said how can i give advice not noing what kinda machine or aplication and he also said he could be useing as low as 90 amps so why sajest spray.in america we have 110 volt machines that dont produce more than 140 amp/so i said evan with low amps try the gold gas ook

we usually run around 300 my eyes dont feel straind. i use shade 11 for light stuff.
