Thought you might like this. I'm meant to be intelligent....So had previously posted about problems using a Cosmo 130 gas/gasless Mig. My problem was burning through when trying to weld thin sheet metal (1.8mm that had been worked by hammer into complex shapes) I was using to repair a car chassis. As a result the job was a nightmare - thank god I could grind down and retry...time and time again. I appreciate these units aren't the best quality but somehow I seemed to be getting worse at welding. When I found the posts about improving the SIP/Cosmo machines I thought I would give it a go. Added a brace to the wire feed (they were amazingly bent and had to use heat to reform the posts) and altered the height of the wire feed axle. Put it back together (awaiting the components to separate the wire feed drive power supply) thought I would try it see if those changes had made any difference......it was awful with the wire driving then stopping and starting.. It was only when I took it all apart again I realised I was using 0.6 wire...no problem as I had the drive wheel turned......and it said 0.8 on one side and 0.6 on the side I was using.......uh....it reads 0.9. Yup had misread the wheel and hadnt realised it was a 0.8/0.9 drive wheel. No wonder I was blowing through - the wire stopped feeding every half a second or so. I ve always said read the F***ing manual...now its read the f***ing components properly!!!!
