the issue with getting her on the road is the dvla have no knowledge of this engine coming into the uk. My father tried to get the logbook changed and they said it has to be evaluated to make sure it really is what he says it is. Even though the bike was a grey import from new registered in 92 on a j reg, there is now info about this engine on any database. So that needs doing first. Apparently the rac will come out for 300 quid and simply look it over, check the capacity and give it the stamp of approval. I still have the logbook for the cbr400 but it has no engine numbers on it.I reckon you are right there, give the motor a good going over, nice new fuel filters, plugs, carbs cleaned up etc, decent battery, earth cleaned up nice n shiny bit of tlc and she is probly a gud un.
Interested to see how she goes if you get her sorted and on the road.
the numbers on the engine date it as a 91-92 engine starting nc29 and Honda will confirm it is a 399cc Honda engine but the dvla or vosa wont accept this as fact
