How many coats

How many coats of 2k do you use on car/bike bits and how long between coats do you wait ? I ask as i seem to have a problem with the paint that i spray staying slightly soft under the surface. I asked a few people about this and they reckon i put the paint on too heavy. Any advice ?

I usually put 3 or 4 on but it doesn't really mean much because we can't say what thickness we are applying, it shouldn't stay soft though, as for time between coats when it's flashed off, gone tacky ,

Yes, but isn't there an extra fast one ? I am only doing bike bits with a mini-gun.

There is rocket which is very fast but I wouldn't use it

I like 3-4 coats but I flat and polish everything, 10 mins between coats usually, if in doubt best leave it longer, a lot depends on temp and how much your putting on.

'er brother paints cars for a living and he cringes at the amount of paint I put on.

Assuming you are not in a booth I would try to use several thin coats and I use fast hardener not ultra. Only ten mins between coats unless its cold weather.

One thing I will say is unless you are a chemist dont try to be one, observe the gw8izr prime directive - unless you are *sure* you know better than the manufacturer, do exactly what he says.

I dust coat and then two thin coats. Rarely need anything more but its hard 'at home'

Answering these questions is always a challenge as Ronan probably isnt painting in a very stable environment and the techniques may need to adapt from day to day.
