How long to wait?

Dropped some bits off at the powdercoater last Monday. Is waiting until the end of the week a fair amount of time to give him before I chase him up?

Sounds reasonable to me, and then weekly nags after that. Unless he gives you a specific date, in which case phone then and weekly after that.

One of the reasons I was an excellent debt collector was well timed bloody minded stubbornness.

Yes. There are a few mitigating factors, if you want the parts all different colours, that would influence the job, if they have a big job on this week in red and you want yellow, that sort of thing but didn't they give you any clues as to how long it would be?

Bloomin eck, and I thought next day was a long time

Lucky for me , i'm friends with a powdercoater, so as long as its the same colour as what they are doing at the time, i can have it "while you wait"

As said, from as you wait up to 2 weeks.

One place I used to deal with once had the parts 5 weeks. despite weekly visits and being told "stories".
I turned up on the 6Th week and said, I will have the parts back and we go to one Near Devizes. They begged me to wait and they will get them done, gratis, due to "tech issues" and by lunch time I had the parts.

Never went back, now can't go back. They went bust.

If they haven’t promised a date,then it all depends on their current workload.

I never pressure my powder coater. Usually about 10 days. He is swamped with work. They start at 5am and stop at 4pm. Plus Saturdays. He also does a good deal for cash.

Perhaps a quick call to ask for a forecast (and not on the weather!) wouldn't be unreasonable at any time.

Whenever I use our local guy, if I want a common colour like satin black, usually get them back in a week. Change the colour radically, they have to clean out the gun & time goes upto 2 weeks.

Perhaps a quick call to ask for a forecast (and not on the weather!) wouldn't be unreasonable at any time.

We are forecasting start dates of 2021 for most of our clients, cant be more precise than that
