How important is the primer colour?

Hi All
I am experimenting with some HS 2K direct gloss top coat. If I use a light primer is the top coat likely to look lighter when finished as apposed to darker if I use a dark primer?

Some colours are more opaque (hiding power) than others, so with just a few light coats the primer may influence the colour.

hs should cover well ...theres always a few colours that are a pain - mainly yellow lol

you should get some test cards that have black n white strips , gives you an idea of when its covered

i just use a grey primer for everything and give the paint enough coats to get it how i want.

I like to have some colour contrast between my epoxy primer, filler and high build primer. It helps to limit sand through. Sometimes I will use epoxy as a sealer after the filler and high build work. So if you are concerned about the impact of the primer colour you need to be sure what method you are using before selecting your primer colours.

Shouldn't make any difference unless you are economising on paint.
On the other hand, using a similar colour primer reduces the look of stone chips etc. May be a good or bad thing though.
