how do i save a video from You Tube

Many years ago i used to record boxing matches on vcr as at that time Sky hadnt tied up the whole boxing scene with their 'pay per view' etc. One particular fight was between Errol Christie vs Mark Kaylor and it was an absolute belter and i was pretty pleased with myself for recording it HOWEVER my mother decided that as i had left home she could make use of all the videos i had 'left' around to record her favourite soaps on etc. Full collection of fights gone for ever, however i was a bit quiet the other day and decided to google it AND would you believe it some kind chap (or chapess) has only gone and uploaded it to youtube. As i dont want to lose it again can anyone recommend a programme/software for me to be able to save it in case it is ever dropped form youtube

if you use firefox you can get a plugin called downloadhelper which will download youtube vids

I use Moylea to Rip and VLC media to play, both are free, Tunebite which is $20 will also Livestreem Rip, although its far more useful for converting files....
