How do I clean a corner joint like this?

Hi...

I'm kind of scratching my head, trying to figure out how to clean the brown powder from this inside joint. The wire brushes I have won't get into the corner. I can visualize a little wire brush with the bristles in line with the handle, kind of like a paint or flux brush, but I've never seen one. What do you do to wire brush inside corner joints for painting?

You can, I think, get small cone shaped rorary wire brushes for the Dremel-a-likes. But, for that, I'd either get the wire brush right in the angle and sort of flick it repeatedly or use some scitchbrite or even wire wool on the end of a gloved finger or two.

If I was feeling really lazy I'd take it to my mate and get him to blast it and paint it

You could try cutting a cheap wire brush at an angle, leaving some bristles near the end of the point (if you see what I mean). They don't last too long but you can always re-cut them slightly shorter. I have used this method for getting into tricky places in the past.

Use a SHANK BRUSH

Hmmm... all good suggestions.

BTW, this was a heavily rusted piece. I used a twisted wire brush on an angle grinder to remove most of it, then ground down to bare metal where I welded. But in the photo, you can still see rust. Amazing what the camera picks us. I'd practice my welding more if I had some clean steel to play with!

All you need to clean that corner is a cheap decoke brush to use in a drill, from your local car accessories shop, to get rid of that orrible spatter make yourself a scraper from an old flat file just grind a chisel point on it,

Decoke brush... I've never heard that term before. But when I searched it, I found not only a flat-topped one but also a pointed one that's perfect for corners. I have a piece of 4.5 mm steel that has a pretty sharp edge that I've been using on the splatter, but the file is an even better idea... thanks!

you can get little wire brushes there like a tooth brush size they were in somewere cheep like wilkinson's dont kno its helpfull but thort it might be a low cost solution

You can get cheap wire brushes to go in drills, silverline type of thing is only about 50p more than a hand one.

Id just use the end of a wire brush, normally pointed anyway aren't they?
