House / Workshop doorbell

Hi Folks,
A bit of a silly one this but our doorbell is broken and I'd like to replace it with a battery powered wireless model with one bell push and two bells (one for the house and one for my workshop). I've found a couple which fit the bill specification wise but they get naff reviews so I'm avoiding those. The workshop is only about 15-20 metres from the house. Has anybody got one which works well in this kind of configuration (budget about £50 tops, hopefully less - I don't want to spend £100s on a doorbell!)? No need for any fancy tunes - just ding-dong will do!

I tried one and the damn thing rang right outside the workshop but not a bleep inside, that last breeze block wall killed the signal, think it was about £15, not sure if a more expensive one will be any better, I was told they have a legal limit on the frequency strength allowed... unsure if that is true though

The main issues with wireless bells are batteries and range, if you have thick walls etc then the signal transfer can be a nightmare and you can always guarantee with batteries that they will run out when you need them most !!

Is there no way to get a speaker wire to a chime in the workshop ?

I recently changed our setup at home to 2 chimes off one transformer and it works a treat, one chime at the front door and one at the back !!

Seems logical but I haven't seen one in my search so far?

Cumbriasteve, I have discovered that there are 50m, 100, and 200m range ones but from the reviews people have posted they often don't achieve anything like their specified 'maximum' range. Not sure about limits on the signal strength but I did read one review where the buyer had to send one back because it screwed up his Wi-Fi network. Since the 'sending' end is the bell push, I guess the strength will be limited to what can be powered from a relatively small battery?

Premiershipman, Thanks for the suggestion but I'd rather not run cables if I can avoid it.

aldi normaly has them..got mine with about 10 sound tones on them,mine works fine at over 20m and the gong plugs into a domestic plug so you only need a small batt at button end

I've ordered a Friedland one with 150m range and a single 'portable' bell unit - if it works I will just take the bell to the workshop with me if I'm expecting any deliveries or callers.

Use the Friedland ones last 13 months, not changed the batteries in chime or the push button yet, just the PP9 in PIR after 9 months.
I use the mains powered one for work shop, the battery/portable lives in house.
