hot air soldering basics for first timer

A pin type soldering iron tip & wick would be easier if you have no experience with hot air.
Tip just big enough to just cover item to remove.
I do use hot air but you want a good practice first & check what nozzles are with it

Just use a fine tip on a soldering iron & some debraid. You can snip the two thin legs to make removal easier, or just pry then up with a knife blade or such whilst you're heating them.

A chisel tip will remove that quick heat is better than letting the board soak a lot of heat from a small tip.
Make sure the tip is clean\ tinned & has some solder on it
If you are cutting legs I always heat them up so as you cut through it doesn't stress the print adhesion

i use hot air (not as much these days) mostly for removing power sockets on latop power jacks as some have quite a few connections and are normaly well built but i do try to remove with a soldering iron first as years went on you know the ones you can remove and ones to use hot air on hot air is good but you still have to clean up the older solder before you can replace the new component so does not save much time most of the time its quicker to use the iron, sucker and wick

hot air is quite easy to burn the board if you dont know what you are doing with it i used to cover most near components to stop heat getting to them and then heat the spot that i needed to remove gently getting it up to temp while a little wiggle on the component as the solder soffens you can remove but keep the hot air moving around point in in one place you normaly burn the pcb before the solder melts

I soldered some surface mount LEDs on.
I managed to solder them on with an iron, but not very neatly.
I bought one of the cheap hot air things and it worked really well.
I tinned the PCB pads with an iron, placed the components and heated with hot air
till the solder flowed.

A wide screwdriver or chisel tip is your best bet for getting that off. Place it right on the tab. Carefully snip the legs first. Do not use a fine tip you risk damaging the board.
Clean up with desoldering braid.
Dont waste your money on hot air and paste.

A common mistake is to use a very fine tip, it takes to long to heat the solder & a lot of heat is transferred to print\board causing tracks to lift.
Snipping the legs are something I do, I heat the pad as I cut so the shock of the cut is not transferred to pad, especially if the cutters are not sharp
Will your cutters cut a fine hair cleanly? if not they are not sharp & will tend to expand the cut as they force their way through.
As @richie00boy says clean pads with the correct with with braid, don't waste money on air
