Hose fixing clip?

Here is the set-up

Bottle (arongmix) - Reg - Flow meter - outlet - hobby mig hose.

The hose was fitted to a small regulator with a 1/4" id or so barb fitting with a SS jubliee clip.

What I want to know is fitting a hose with a jubliee type clip OK (in a home workshop enviroment) or NOT (home or industry) on a Argon or CO2 line. Must you (or should you) use a professional crimped joint?

Also what is the max length of feed hose for Argon at say 1/4" id ?

jubily clip will be ok so will hose at a reasonable length

It's not high pressure, and it's not flammable gas, so even in an industrial setting a jubilee clip would be Ok.

We have recently had a gas inspection at work by BOC and they picked up on a couple of "jubilee" clips which I replaced with O clips.

It's not a safety issue if you have a small gas leak but we are looking at the cost of wasted gas (we are doing a thorough leak test next week as we losing about 2lpm! ) - everything is money in industry!

The inspector said worm drive clips are OK but can be overtightened and strip the threads or wear through re-use.

I have often used a bit of 15mm copper pipe on gas outlets and pneumatic fittings, just nipped an ear in the side with joiners pincers. There are also a better type of jubilee clip available than the norm with a screw through and nut on the end. Think O clips are best, I use pincers to compress them too.
