Hi guys. Does any one know the correct name for the old iron plumbing pipe and fittings the stuff that you used to get in hospitals and the like and is it still avalible

Much better than flat pack from DIY stores too...i love the industrial interior look but my missus wont let me knock all the plaster off the walls..LOL

Thats what i am aiming for with scaff planks as the shelves. And hopefully a wire brushed finish on the pipes

My dad gets it from work for me sometimes, he calls it steam pipe or threaded pipe.

I built some temporary racking to store 30 years worth of company records for a client, all done with 3/4" nb pipe and size 5 kee klamps, all you need is a saw and an allen key.
If you use threaded fittings you will either have to thread the pipe ends or use weld nipples

Your best to fix it together with clamps or weld them, it would be virtually impossible to screw all the joints together, unless you plan to use couplers.
