Hooped ladders

Is there an regulation covering industrial steel fixed vertical ladders, do they have to have a hoop above a certain height?

Its BS 5395-3:1985. Its on my shelf at work, i can have a look tomorrow.

Thanks, I'm not happy about a fixed ladder at work.

There is increasing calls for hoops to be removed as the damage is worse than free falling. Plus the hoop inhibits the operation of many fall protection devices

It looks like they should start at 2.5m from the ground.
If the ladder starts on an elevated platform (more than 2m off the ground) they may need to start near handrail height.

This one's at least 3 metres with no hoops
