hi
l am in need of educating about the honda range of car engines found in civics, accords etc, l am looking for a frontwheel drive engine and gearbox for a buggy, obviously the more power the better
l dont know that much about hondas and am being told that what l want is civic vtec type R, a quick look on ebay shows that these must be the one to have judging from the price, they comand £2.5k for an engine
but the vtec also turns up in the accord but they only seem to be around £800 to £1000 and digging a bit further the honda prelude 2.2 vtec with steptronic gearbox is an even better buy, some being less than £400 with tax and mot for a working driving car
more my sort of price range, the 2,2 vtec seems to be around 200 bhp from what l have read so far on the net, same sort of power as the type R civic but at a fraction of the price ?? what am l missing here ?
can anyone enlighten me as to how all these engines are related to each other or why when l look at engine bay pics some engines have the exhaust manifold on the front and others on the back ?
or perhaps a link to a honda site where the history of these cars/engines is explained
thanks Andy
