Honda CR-V Reversing Sensor Alarm

Maybe someone can help. My No .2 son in law has a 14 year old Honda CR-V which was fitted with reversing sensors. It may be coincidence but since granddaughter “washed” the car the beeper has not worked. We replaced it a few months ago but it was very faint. Came to fit a new one yesterday and we’re getting 9.5 volts at the beeper connections when I think we should be getting nearer to 12 volts. We don’t know whether the 9.5 volts falls when circuit is loaded. We therefore suspect a fault with the “control box” as both beepers work fine when dabbed onto the battery. My question is, has anyone got experience of this particular problem before we start ripping out internal panels with a view to finding then replacing the control module thing? Thanks.

I would add that he lives in Ealing, I’m in South Oxfordshire so can’t pop round and try stuff out.

I had the reversing system pack up on our Skoda, nothing worked. On plugging in a reader it showed one of the four sensors in the bumper had packed up, they must be interconnected somehow. Looked on the web, new sensor £8.80 including post from the Bay. Rang Skoda, much whistling through Teton “that will be £88 plus vat sir” as you can imagine, the mail order one won. When it came it was identical to the Skoda one, same make & even had the Skoda part number on. So if the Honda system is the same, check the sensors.

I should have stated that we think the system was installed at the time of vehicle purchase (when new) but was not a factory option as there is no dashboard indicator or switch.
