Yea but any muppit can wave his credit card about...i love the fact that we spend ££££,s in consumables plus electric to make items worth a fiver but fill the forum with tales doing itI think that when you consider that you can buy a changer including bead breaker for £63 delivered you're unlikely to still want to make one!

dont u mean 2 bobyears ago when changing lorry tyres we used to use wedges simply made from a 4"x4"x4" angle iron about 1/2 thick.
put them slightly into the gap between tyre and rim and belt the f**& out if it with a sledge hammer.
the correct wedges that cost a fortune from tyre factors were the same thing only chrome plated, and you can imagine how long the chrome lasted when
being hit with a 14 pound sledge hammer, and they cost £5 for 4 in 1969 !!!! 4 bits of angle iron cost about 2 shillings ha ah that's 10p for the youngsters.
(or a florin for the real old fogeys, and 2 hog for old time cockneys)

for my landy tyres if i ever need to, i use my highlift jack and car weight to break the bead..could be adapted to be used withought a car i guess
