just build it and dont let on . i have a trailer that i built years ago . its as good as new . how can they prove its just being built if theres no dates stamped on any of the components . unless its a bodge job and doesnt comply with carrying capacity and brakes who will ever look at itJust so its a legal thing, incase you get any issues with police/vosa etc
......... who will ever look at it
and even if u have an accident as long as the trailer is up to spec its hardly a problem . i wrote a van off a couple of years ago pulling my trailer and wasnt a problem it only becomes a problem if u arent insured to pull one or it contributed to the accidentNobody until you have an accident, then if there's the slightest irregularity your insurance company may refuse to accept a claim.
ive just phoned my insurance company up and im covered third party for my trailer .as far as a bought or home made trailer is concerned both are covered as long as it is road legal .thats highway insuranceThat was a couple of years ago. In post #6 I said "Insurance companies are now getting sniffy about trailers"
thanks for prompting me to ring and find out as i have never asked them the question before /OK - so some insurance companies are getting sniffy (Saga in my case), as always it pays to check and shop around.
