Hi,Does any one know the thread size for the "S30" valve used on the pressure barrel lids for carbonating the beer when the pressure has dropped after drinking a few pints?Am thinking of making an adaptor to use a bigger cylinder/regulator rather than the tiny 8g disposables,thaks ina advance.
Perhaps I should have asked this on adifferent part of the forum but the brew rm seemed apt,

Hello Rosinante,

how long does it take you to drink the beer, as you shouldn't need to use CO2 to dispense it? You may be letting it go too far before racking?

I try and drink the beer as fast as I can!When I wake up both me and the barrel needs recharging,unfortunately the pressure of gas that I build is not suitable for anything except for ozone depletion.

you do need to use co2 to dispence the beer as you create a vaccuum if you dont, also if you dont keep the pressure up then the co2 escapes from the beer and you end up with a flat pint, even pubs use Co2 and various other gas mixes to keep the pressure constant in the barrel, air cant be used as it introduces bacteria and then the beer turns bad

you would be better off buying a new cap and making your own connection, just read up and someone else was after the same info, not BSP or metric apparently

Hi have thought of that but the valve also incorporates an nrv and a safety relief vv,still want these but want to pressurise from a cylinder not a sparklets bulb,drilling anothe hole and fitting another filling valve involves more cash and also another potential leak point,have just measured thread dimensions .7 od,looks like 12 tpi ?

if you are using sparklet bulbs, modify an empty bulb to take a connection on the side
