Regardless of the internet and smart side of things, this is something i have been looking at recently and so far all the kit appears to be very similar.
When I decide what road to go down the common factor will be to use the smart "bit=plug, socket, adaptor or whatever" to power a separate industrial contactor via a plug and socket arrangement, so the smart device is only handling a low load, not the connected device.
They all look to be ok for light loads but from the reviews, i have seen and videos of teardowns of faulty units the switching sides all look a little underrated.
Add a contactor and use the remote switch to turn it on and off.
