Holme Lacy College, Hereford

Holme Lacy I was there on Monday, they have one of our M-Pro 300 Performance machines, I didn't realise what a large welding training facility they had there.

Anyone in the area, should keep them in mind if wanting to learn to weld, not sure about prices or course lengths though, but I know that they do Day and Night courses.

Also looked like there were a few hotties working in the nearby Equestrian centre

Holme Lacy? a great facility.
The staff are great, I have been there a few times fishing for advice and help.
Sadly and typically of course Holme Lacy is having it's budgets slashed, a few guys have half completed courses and had them axed. Not nice.
I am about three miles up the road, there are umpteen blacksmith students living on the farm near my workshop, some of them are 'hotties' as well.

Never knew you was so close to there. Nice part of the world. Do quite a bit over that way because one of our busiest distributors is on Rotherwas Ind Est. Should be installing some machines over that way on again soon, will bring you a bottle of Malvern Oak over

very very true regarding the welder i didnt like it as you had to read the manual be fore you could set it up whereas with most welders you can figure it out

i think the controlpro would be a better version for a college as its more student proof

That machine is the performance panel and has lots of options and possibiltites, so it a little more difficult to master without someone running thru it with you, but once you have been showed its a breeze. Simerla menu operation to an Ipod Next time your there, look at the display, its OLED you can view it from any angle, I think its what they will make the next generation of tv's from

But I agree, for the training at a college, the control pro is a better option, so I think thats what they may well go for.

cant imagine all the students sitting down and reading the manual

also some of the settings can be altered but you have to go into sub menus etc to re alter them which i think would be to complicated for a college

i think we would be changing settings that are hard to change back for fun

pherpaps even basicplus for a college

I don't think you'd need a manual if someone showed you for 10 mins. The main things like voltage and wirespeed are on the front panel. Only things that don't get changed very often are in a background menu, such as pre-post gas, burnback, creepspeed etc. Everything else is langauges and job saving etc. The college had already decided that they didn't want the performance one, but one of the instructors said it would be worth considering because welding machines are becoming more and more complex and chances are the students will be welding with more and more advanced kit when they actually get a job in a fab shop or somthing.

did you really think i like engineering

i can see me changing the burnback to max and the creepspeed to 0 so people would be confused why no wire came out etc

i advised them last week not to get a performance but apat from that fantastic machines

if they replace them all with lorches will it be the biggest lorch place in britain?

also can i have a price for a ac/dc tig welder around 200 amp

I was recently holme lacy for a welding course, and doing some mig and MMA codes, last evening was thursday and i had a play with said welder.

i have to say i likes it a LOT an is now firly on the want list. the menus took a bit or working out but there again i just working out how it worked as i went.

once worked out the menues it was a very easy to use and layed down some awesome welds with next to no effort.
