Hitachi Gas Nailer

Got a lot of first fix timber to do on the barn and was going to treat myself to a gas nailer.
I can't really justify a Paslode gun but I see a new Hitachi 90mm gas nailer is £270:

Bit limited on the nail size range with 50mm being the smallest you can put in them...having used paslode since when they 1st hit the streets ide say buy a clean fairly new used paslode for the same money Going back to when paslode guns 1st appeared,back then you bought iirc 3 boxes of nails you got the gun free

Isnt 50mm the shortest for the IM350 too though?

Takes the same nails and gas as the passy too i believe?

I seem to recall in the distant past being told the guy who designed the early Paslode left and went on to design the Hitachi version

I'm a bit nervous about splashing 300 notes on a 2nd hand Paslode with no guarantee when a new Hitachi is cheaper.

a misfire is one of 2 things either wants cleaning or needs the electronics where the handle is to fire the gun have a look upon google

also a second nail fixer is still like the 1st nailer all depends on the end of the nail gun that last one is like the first fix end

I have the Hitachi, bought it for the same reason Paslode to expensive. It has the same internals as the Makita, so my sevice engineer tells me. I have mine serviced once a year NZ$80 (£40 'ish ) It is 8 years old now great machine. I have loads of Hitachi stuff and the battery charges off my main cordless charger which saves carring 2 charges.

Have you considered an air nailer ?

I already have a pneumatic coil nailer I bought for £5 at a car boot it works well but the maximum nail length is only 50mm.
Plus it means I have to drag the compressor up there and have the tractor running the PTO generator as my Honda generator is not man enough.

We opted for the Makita model pictured above - mostly as it was a lot cheaper than anything else at the time (special offer at Axminster tools). We've had it a few years now and it's been faultless. IIRC when reading up about gas guns at the time the Makita / Paslode (and possibly the Hitachi?) were made from the exact same plans - again I seem to recall something like Paslode only had a short term patent on their original (IM350) that allowed them to have a monopoly on the Gas guns for many years - that expired / or deemed invalid or something along those lines which allowed competitors to make (or likely source the guns from the same Chinese factory). Paslode responded by introducing updated designs with slightly larger nail capacity whereas the competition as still stuck with the older design.

No you can get a 35mm in a paslode...and would,nt suprise me over the designer jumping ship as they are so alike in function
