Hitachi cordless drills

If you buy the profesional range, they are spot on.

I have an 18v NiMh one. Hapilly drills 13mm hole in steel
Or concrete (only a normal combi drill, not sds)
The batteries are key to most cordless tools, Look for NiMH or Li-ion for best performance.


Infact, most of my powertools are Hitachi. They get some abuse and always cope.
The kit i have has some of the highest capacity batteries available.

The newer stuff is available in various bits also using the same batteries, cordless grinders, jigsaws etc.

I know that Hitachi cordless impact drivers are standard issue for Toyota team leaders, for use in on-production line repairs. Must tell you something.

hitachi is probably my pick of the bunch to be honest, but since i already had a load of dewalt stuff I'm gonna stick with it, and tbh i dont have any complaints about that gear, apart from the ones with the plastic chucks, but then i dont own any of those

Hitachi stuff ain't that bad at all, good price for the drill at 130 squid,
they must be around the 300 mark new....bargain i'd say.

I'm a Carpenter by trade, so been through all the makes over the years, some are good most are crap!.

I need tools that do the job and do it well, the only make i would buy now is.....Makita ! Great tools.

I recently bought my first Hitachi drill DH 24 DV , i needed a cordless SDS machine and so far its been fine , i use a corded sds drill if im doing a lot of holes but the hitachi is very handy and saves getting the transformer and leades out
I Usually prefer Dewalt stuff but recenlty bought an AEG cordless (non sds) drill and thats got my approval so far ( i steer clear of plastic chucks they dont seem to last too long , maybe its the abuse i give them )

hitachi are very relaible, i have a hitachi sds and no complaints yet, my uncle has an older hitachi sds no bother there either. he has a 18v AEG cordless which is magnificent lol and a sds AEG drill, this is his seccond AEG sds, the 1st one ate concrete and the 2nd one is much the same. a bit expensive but you get what you pay for.

I know it's a while since the last post here...

I notice you got Lithium ion batteries... they still work? I've been through a few myself since 2007 but this last set seems to have lasted well. I always make sure I completely drain the battery, then charge it to the max, then drain it fully, then charge to the max and so on... Has seemed to make them last longer!

I didn't get my hitachi stuff from here but i noticed they have a few deals on ATM and a competition... so if anyone wants some Hitachi stuff this could be the best deal right now... hitachi power tools
