The guy who taught me was like that, used only F words, Shirt and trousers, would squint with one eye when cutting... and my fav would light his rolleys from the arc or torch... Grrrr

Oh and Migs were for the devil....Arc and gas were king

Yeah, i still know a few like that who are still about - just!
One old boy we used to work with turned up in suit and tie everyday. Filthy suit and tie, but would never be seen without it. Bless him.

That takes me back. Where I served me time, many of the old boys (and they really looked old, some of them), wore a shirt and tie. What always amazed me was how they kept their overalls clean too. There was me looking like an oily sack (of ****) tied up with string, next to these clean smart buggers, who could work at many times the speed of me without appearing to do anything.
