Hilti gun

Hi I have a roofing job that requires me to fix 2x2 timber to angled steel. It needs to be quick tek screws are slow I was thinking a hilti gun but not sure which one. Has anyone any experience using them for this job they must be able to fire 80 - 90mm nails through timber and into steel. It is only 5mm thick wall steel. Thanks

Look at spit pulsa nail guns, i used them in the past for fixing battens in the steel girders however on softer battens ot would go too far in the timber... I dont think you will have any issues with thicker battens however fixing with tek screws it gives a more consistent result... The hilti guns should work as well however you need powerfull one and long nails are notcheap!

We have a couple of DX460 guns. They work well. Buy one on ebay rather than Hilti list price.

If you look on Hilti website it gives all the spec's for the nails etc. You need to make sure you use the right nail/washer/shot combination otheriwse the nail won't penetrate the steel properly or will blast all the way through.

I do think you will have some faffing about to get it right though. Tekscrews are pretty quick with a decent gun and the right screws.

Clutch. Motor will spin but not turn the output until pressure applied.
Used for pasterboarding a lot with a feed attached.
Cheap sh on fleabay.

Have a hilti. Had blue and yellow with no issues too.

Dewalt cordless tekgun is pretty good. Half the price of hilti too .

I have the Hilti DX2
It's no frills, single shot etc and as mentioned above you have to get the right combination of shot / nail etc , but it does what it is designed to do very well at a reasonable cost.
The higher prices units allow you to tailor the power a bit more.
You can pick up compatible nails and cartridges on eBay

I've found my milwaukee 3/8 impact gun with 8mm socket works well on tek screws.
No impact when it's drilling, just when it's cutting the thread.
