Set it up in the vice like in the pics, and lift the handle clockwise till the gears come out of mesh.
I assume you do have the bit that fits in the vice?

Raise the back end of the blade till the top of the rack is about flush with the top of the frame, and lift the handle till the gears mesh again as in the pic above.

If your gear is fitted correctly, the blades should close all the way with a few teeth to spare.

Looking at his pic compared to yours and the image I posted earlier looks like his gear is orientated incorrectly.is it possible to slacken the nut and reorientation it?

Yeah - looks like it's about half a turn out. I'm guessing it mUst be possible to to change the position, as someone has done it wrong in the past!

Hi, hope I'm not too late but I also have one of these, and they are Great. However as pointed out earlier the gear can disengage and bust a knuckle. I put a tiny blob of weld on the last tooth to prevent this, then fiddled about with the tooth mesh and it works perfectly now. If anyone wants me to I'll put a picture or two up (when I've found the bugger)
