HiKOKI GP2S2L Die Grinder question

Hi all. I have aquired a HiKOKI GP2S2L 110v Die Grinder. Its rated at 500w I think but its a bit of an animal in that it runs so fast that in many cases is just too much for the work in hand. I was wondering if I could buy a voltage control unit to slow it down a bit.
If someone could point me in the direction of such a unit and perhaps explain how to wire it in it would be much appreciated. Thanks. S

Speed control of single phase motors is not simple.

The 110v complicates it a little bit more.

Have you considered that it may be your choice of tool in the end of it that is making it "too much"?

Look at the various options for burrs, for example, and choose one with the most appropriate cut for the work in hand.

The work in hand is grinding off welds that are not accessible using a traditional 115mm grinder. I do have air as well but its so noisy in many ways and the exhaust freezes my arm. That's why I started to look for an electric grinder that has a long nose to get to the areas that the other tools can't go to.
I did see a thread on here that mentioned the Hikoki 110v and in that thread it also metioned a speed controller and also gave some links, but I cant find the thread which drove me to creating this thread. One of the controllers was a plug-in unit using 13amp plug and a socket.

Hoping the Collective can offer it's usual sound advice re buying a die grinder as I'm currently contemplating acquiring one.

Will need to be 240V and beefy enough in wattage terms that I can't stall it in amateur use. I don't want to pay a fortune for an all-singing/dancing machine and would even consider used if anyone on here has a 'surplus' machine at a good price.

I've done the usual Googling but there seems to be a bewildering range, everything from long-nose to a wide range of power levels and 'no load' speeds etc.. Some seem little more than Dremel-type things with small...

I do not know if it contains the post you remember but it is worth a look. It may be that the thread you remember called it a Hitachi not Hikoki, so worth searching with that word in addition.

Variable speed die grinders are available from a number of manufacturers. One of them might function better than an upstream solution.

Thanks for that info Agroshield. Its not the thread I saw but hits most of the problem I have with this grinder.
On the face of it, I may need to sell this 110v grinder as it doesn't really lend itself to work at a variable speed but that one in the middle of the pic on that thread looks to be a good bet using a controller and the correct voltage.
Honestly, I can't express enough about the "kick" when this Hikoki thing powers up. The whole world turns in the opposite direction. I have an old Hitachi 125mm grinder that has a "soft start" when its switch on which would help a lot with some of these tools.
