High-temperature penetrating sealant?

I've got a leak from the exhaust of my narrowboat engine, from a collar between two muffler boxes that has been welded in the past. The weld is bad - just little patches of pigeon **** - but I can't really grind and re-weld as there's no space, and I have no power. So...

I'm looking for some kind of sealant. I think the putty would sit in the fillet of the joint and would be liable to blow off with the vibration over time. Does anyone know of anything that would be a bit more "searching" and would work its way into the joint a bit more?

As you know it really needs to be a safe repair, In the past I have used an exhaust bandage, if you have the room, Wet the bandage and wrap the pipe etc, it sets hard and I found it to be pretty good,

i use high temp RTV on the flanges of my turbo track car. should be ok on a chug chug narrowboat engine.

that exhaust repair cement stuff is rubbish and just falls off.

That's a posh sleeve.
Rice pud tin and two Jubilees over the top of a bandage - if needs must !

"Goop"™ might be a possibility (I haven't checked the temp rating). You can thin it with toluene.

Basically they have a good range of RTV products for general use.

Cutting might be possible, but pretty difficult. I don't think I could get angle grinder in there to clean it up. I'll have another look. If so, that sleeve looks the way to go.

Does toluene thin any silicone? Maybe thinned high-temperature silicone would work. Goop only withstands 82C.

Do you have a link? I can only find the aluminium "Bandages".

Cut the pipe with a chain cutter, requires very little space. Then put one of those joiners shown above onto the pipes with some assembly paste for good measure.
