High power voltage regulator info

I have found a high power voltage regulator but a search of RS has drawn a blank and a Google search has so far only brought up a page of someone asking for info and not really getting a reply.
So just on the off chance anyone here has info I thought I would post a pic, 150mm callipers

for scale.

Problem is I now have two obsolete part numbers to search for,

Its a part we used in railway signalling in the late 70's -in those days its description was accurate, today it could be replaced by a low drop out surface mount regulator and a couple of diodes.. how things have moved on.

Ha ha yes, I know very little about electronics but reading the data sheet I found myself thinking why use something like this. I then realised it was old and the world of electronics has advanced at an astronomical rate.
