High commpression on chain saw

Got a chain saw that's got no chainor bar on and I've nearly ripped my arm off trying to pull the stater never seen this

Low compression yes to hard to pull I've yet to see

It's that hard to pull I nearly thrown it

Have you had the plug out to check it’s not half full of water/oil/general grimness?

Otherwise, has it a decompressor ? My jonsered/husky Frankenstein should have one and it’s a bit lively to pull without

Had the plug out sprayed in wd40 a small amount pulled it a few times

Then give a spray of easy start and tryed again I did manage a few slow pulls and there was smoke but I can't pull it fast enought to start

Oh and no decopresser I did Google that and I've found nothing

compresion is there and it drops on the pull rope until compression then drops slower until it goes pst the compression area then drops same again

ive had it started will start with fuel inside of the chamber then cuts out is my case which i think i need a new fuel diapram for it

Looks like a spring assist start, you just pull it out gently then the spring takes over

Might be a daft suggestion, is the chain brake mechanism stuck on?

I had the same thing on a Stihl and someone on here suggested seeing if the exhaust was blocked. Sure enough it was. I cleaned it out and its been fine since.

Shouldn't make any difference unless the clutch Is full of mush

no its old and i wish it that easy to pull imagine pulling a car then someone put it in gear

ive tryed both forward and backward on the break stuck on there is no chain or bar does that make a diffrance ?

A saw without a chain bar is the hardest thing to pull, normally saws are pretty much balanced with the bar and you kinda drop the saw as you pull, without a bar they dont drop and as you pull the saw will twist up and want to snap your wrist, hard to explain unless you have tried it..same with stihl concrete saws too

Or the springs have snapped and a shoe has jammed the clutch cover / sprocket mount. Forget what it’s called. The bit the shoes drive.

I had it before now. Worth a look.

If the chain brake is on it'll hold the clutch, unless the brake is in the side cover

Depends. If the chain comes off without taking the sprocket off then it might.

Clutch drum. That’s what it’s called. Just came to me.

On the cheaper saws the sprocket is part of the clutch drum. Better saws have a replaceable sprocket. I do not know about yours.

Some of that age had an inboard chain, I think husky and Sachs did, where you needed to take the drum and band off to get the chain out.

If it’s an outboard chain like a Stihl, you won’t need to disturb the drum to get the bar and chain off so you won’t know what the innards is like.

There is a small roller bearing on the clutch shaft also. These frag and can cause the drum to run squint and
Jam on the brake band or housing.

Sorry roofmam but that is really bad advice and specifically how not to start a saw. Sometimes the pull cord snatches back therefore your motion sends the saw bar round hitting your leg quite hard in the best case scenario. Worst case is the saw has started before the pull cord snatches, and if the chain break isn't on sends a spinning chain round into your leg. I know plenty of people who have done the former and got large bruises, fortunately I don't know anyone that has had it start before the snatch.
Chainsaws should be started either with the rear handle between your legs and front handle held with left hand, or right heel on the rear knuckle guard and left hand on front handle with left knee on floor.

Even 90cc saws should be relatively easy to start without hitting the decomp button when started like this.
