Hiab Moffett - approach/ramp angle.

Morning everyone,

Can anyone tell me what angle a Moffett can deal with- we're looking to get 4-5 tons of topsoil delivered and most companies use them to off load and as we've a up incline from the road to the driveway I need to know if I need to draft in help to barrow it from the road or if the Moffett will have any problems..

The people I spoke to at a few companies thought "it would be ok" but none had driven one and I cannot be doing with faff and issues (shifting 4 tons of soil by hand) on the day.

How long's a piece of string
It depends on which model the biggest models are unstoppable 3 wheel drive difflock and big pneumatic tyres
The smaller ones are single wheel drive with two smaller solid front wheels that will get stuck on a match stick

I would think topsoil companies will likely have the former and many of them will be telescopic rather than mast type so can reach even further

Best to have a few pallets there for when the truck arrives, get the driver to put the bags on the pallets prior to going up the incline rather than travelling with the mast high through the loops on the bag. All gets a bit unstable with the bags swinging about and they can break the loops off which gets messy.

^^^^ hes does good and thats not flat land but not muddy as they are trying to impose thats lost of gravel/type 1 prob been impacted down where its a bit boggy to give good grip
