Hi to all - Stahlwerk tig 200

Good evening all,
I'm new to Welding, currently taking a few courses in tig and mig.
Looking to get my first tig welder as this is where Im looking to progress.
Wanted to ask if any of you friendly folk have or have used anything by Stahlwerk and weather I'll really need dc+ac or I can get away with just dc for now, the two I've seen are as follows -
Low end -

Your clearly looking to possibly spend £500 and are unsure if you'll need ac. I'd say you've answered your own question you don't need it.
Use the top part of the £500 budget and buy your self a nice decent dc only unit. Those stahwerk units ain't half cheap. £500 for ACDC pulse and plasma. For me it suggests alarm bells but who knows.
Buy only what you need and spend what you can afford.

The external case and the controls all look like cheap no brand Chinese, there is no way any serious German manufacturer would not even bother to design its own cases. Even the font is the same as Chinese eBay specials.

I may be wrong but I don't think these machines have anything to do with German engineering. I would not touch one with a barge pole. If it does die you are going to have to return it to where ? Germany ? That will cost a lot of beer tokens.

We all know they are not German built they are just distributed from a German warehouse.

If you want an 160 amp AC/DC machine you'll have to fork out over 1000 squidletts with gas plus other bits and even then it will be a far eastern machine, BUT with UK service back.

You will save £1000 by buying it,so youd be up around £960 after sending it back to get fixed
Bloody hell,theres a business plan in the figures right there for an entrepreneur

I'd not buy any of them. I'd take my £500 budget and buy a good simple DC only unit and learn the process.

I bought that rehm for £500. That was a real German machine. Warranty just wasn't on my thoughts

I just sold a 170 amp ewm with hf for £230.theres always a bargain to be had

I need a machine with a switch on it that makes me an instant high skilled welder.
