After seeing Norfolk mentioned I started looking up where my old nan was born, it was Erpingham. I visited once and found the house she was born in and the church graveyard where my ancestors are buried.

I had to Google where Erpingham was in Norfolk and I live here.

I lived in South Lopham for a few years ( Slop-am in the dialect..) And worked at Shipdham, fettling airyplanes. Went off for a holiday(sort of) and never came back.
But, fond memories of the 'flat' land and still have friends there.

Churches are often a bit outside the villages in many places. The Black Death made people move a bit from where they assumed the plague was hitting. Since the houses were originally around the Church, but low grade structures, they disappeared and left the newer ones, further off.
Wool was a big driver (and builder of Churches) back then.

Wool definitely did Jesus a few favours. A friend of mine got married in worstead. Tiny wool village mahoosive church.
