Anyway, I started working in steel on my last visit to the wonderful people who teach me in South Humberside and am now looking at Plasma cutters, and air compressrs too, I guess. I'm not very technical so a lot of the info I read goes straight over my head!

Currently looking at a Cut40 and and a Cobel 40 because I will only be cutting thin steel sheet when I get time. Really could do with some advice on this and what air compressor I wold need. I know you get what you pay for but at the moment I'm not flush.

Never did around here. There was a sign not far from where I'm now sat that would have a tin of paint thrown over it all most every week.

it should never have been changed to humberside in the first place
the humber is a river and nowhere near most of the then humberside

I have not used a cutter so limited advice, I don't think you require too much in the way of compressor power and if you do a 'search' of the forum for the machine you are interested in you should find plenty of previous posts.

I spent two years in Hull late 80's, I loved it. Used to hang out in the Adelphi, the weirdest club in the world? is it still there.
Oh you have come to this forum after advice?
How about putting a post in the Plasma Cutting section of the forum? I see there is the begining of one is the 'How to use the forum' section, it could easily get lost in there. I do lots of freehand plasma cutting. I used to really enjoy it now I find it a chore!. But for ornamental work a plasma cutter is a great piece of kit.

The Humber is not a 'River' it is The humber. There is the River Hull, (just qualifies as a river, ie a toxic flow of liquid dotted with dead trawlers). The Trent and Ouse rivers, both not especially big meet and become the Humber, a huge tidal waterway.

very interesting geo-political discourse but regarding plasma cutters, i got a 'cut 40' off german ebay as i was cheaper and it's been pretty good so far. i use it with a 25 litre, 1.5 hp compressor (a 1980's kestrel) and it does ok although it does trip out my electrics now and again as the supply rcd is only 30a.
